About Scouts

Scouting begins with the Cub Scout program.  Boys and girls ages 5 (kindergarten) to 11 (5th grade) are members of a group of youth of their own gender and age.  These are known as Dens.  During the course of the year, adult leaders (known as Akela) lead the youth through fun and adventurous activities to help then earn their rank.  At the end of the program year, the youth in each Den will advance to the next rank until, after grade 5, they will bridge into one of the older Scout Troops.

The Dens:

Dens meet several times a month at times and locations convenient for the members of that Den.  Activities are coordinated by the Den Leader, Assistant Den Leader, and helpful parents.

Cub Scout Ranks:

Lions  - Kindergarten or age 5 by September 30th
   Tigers -  1st Grade or age 7
   Wolves  - 2nd Grade or age 8
   Bears - 3rd Grade or age 9
   Webelos - 4th Grade or age 10
Arrow of Light - 5th Grade or age 11

The Pack:

The Cub Scout Pack is made up of all of the Dens.  The Pack meets monthly.  Pack 264 meets the first Sunday of each month (sometimes adjusted due to holidays) at 3:00pm at the Senior Center in Twin Peaks.  The Pack is led by the Pack Committee, made up for a number of adult leader positions, and the Cubmaster, who acts as the master of ceremonies for the Pack Meeting and as a leader of the Scouts during events.
